CorAssist is a clinical stage medical device company committed to developing innovative therapeutic products for treating diastolic heart failure. The company's proprietary technology enables the first implantation of a device that directly improves cardiac diastolic function. The company's first product, the ImCardia™, is an elastic self-expanding device that is attached to the external left ventricular surface, through a simple off-pump closed heart procedure. The device assists diastolic function through to improve diastolic dynamic and filling performance, and does not require an external power source. The company has completed early pre-clinical studies, proving the safety of the ImCardia™, and has recently started its feasibility safety clinical study. Prepations for the second stage - efficacy clinical study, to be started during 2009, has also been initiated.
